Brief History:
Harraton Community Centre (The Old Miner’s Welfare) Formerly
known as Coal Depot Built in 1933. The building stands on old mine shafts, many pit disasters happened around this area.
Reports of:
Poltergeist activity in the boxing room
Team Investigation:
A sound recorder was left on the staircase while the team entered the boxing
room. No one else was in the building and when the recording was played back a voice can clearly be heard to say 'Get Out',
Orbs of different shapes and sizes were photographed by most members of the team as well as cold spots being felt. Footsteps
were heard many times coming from the stairway and the stage area. A séance was conducted asking the 'Spirit' to move a small
table in order to answer various questions. The table did in fact move many times, in this way we were able to ascertain the
'Spirit' was that of a young boy named Edward. After the séance Deb had photographed what appeared to be a figure standing
in front of the stage. Music can also be heard on a tape recorder, some of the team could hear music seeming to come from
a distance. The toilet block has two glass windows that look into the hall. The team were all in agreement that they did not
like the 'feel' of the two doors. When photos were taken a face appears to be looking out from the glass doors.
Conclusion:
Everyone at some point during the evening experienced some phenomenon at
the community centre. A very interesting event and the team agrees merits further investigation.

Team Investigation: The team arrived about 11pm, we started off by taking photographs in the hall, to see if we could pick
up any orbs, there were several orbs caught on camera. At 12am we decided to do a séance in the hall, as soon as the séance
started everyone in the group noticed the change in temperature, it went very cold and there was a draught blowing around
the circle. Chris noticed a light darting around the circle and asked if anyone else could see it, another member of the group
said they could see it as well, the light kept moving very fast. During the séance one of the team said that they could see
a figure in the bar area standing at the door, as we all turned to look at the door the candle blew out without anybody in
the group doing it. The candle could not have been blown out by a draught because at that time the draught had stopped and
there was no wind in the building. At some point during the séance each member of the team felt something or saw what they
thought was a figure in the hall with us. One member of the group also saw a figure follow us into the bar area when we went
for a coffee.
Later we went into the nursery to set up a camera, when we switched the lights
off they came back on, so we switched them off again, once more they came back on, three members of the group witnessed this
happen.
While the camera was in the nursery two of us went up to the boxing room where
we sat and asked if there were any spirits in the room with us, nothing happened in the room but we heard noises coming from
the stairs. We asked for the door to be opened and we kept hearing what sounded like the door handle moving, not much more
happened, when we went to leave the room we noticed that the door had been opened, after we had made sure it was shut behind
us.

when they had been closed. Very good night.
